About this project

Based on the spectacular Beware Extreme theme for Stepmania 3.9, Stepmania Extreme Online Project seeks to approximate the experience delivered in the 2000s by DDR EXTREME AC, this time at home, incorporating an internet connection system to be able to upload the scores obtained and thus compete with other users in the world. In turn, Stepmania Extreme Online Project incorporates "modern" details such as FAST/SLOW and EX SCORE indicators, to motivate each person to go for that Marvelous Full Combo.
In addition, Stepmania Extreme Online Project includes an update system through an executable, with which, in the future, different content can be downloaded (for example, content from DDR versions prior to EXTREME, or original edits set in the EXTREME ecosystem). This update system will also allow to repair any errors in stepcharts, metrics or the executable itself of the game, to achieve a better experience.
Technical aspects
In summary, this project has the following contributions from the creator (some already published in Zenius):
- EX SCORE Scoring System added on Normal and Nonstop modes.
- Global Offset Mod in-game (F3 to decrease and F4 to increase, like F11 and F12 for Song Offset)
- The TimingWindows of StepMania.ini have been removed, to avoid alteration of values and cheating.
- The GradePercentValues of StepMania.ini have been removed, to avoid alteration of values and cheating.
- FIX modifiers on EXTRA STAGE (Dark is out)
- TimingWindows Adjusts
(aprox) respect to ARCADE values (see this topic in Zenius
).
Explicity, in ms:
- Marvelous:[-16.667,16.667]
- Perfect: [-26.667,26.667]
- Great:[-73.333,73.333]
- Good:[-113.333,113.333]
- Boo[-153.333,153.333]
- Difficult Level reduce to one (level "ARCADE") on Machine Option.
- Fast/Slow on Normal, Nonstop and Oni Mode, like DDR EXTREME Clarity Mod (Arcade). The font is in Themes\DDRextreme_beware\Fonts\FastSlow font 16x16.png. Credits for Christopher Reinbrecht.
- Metrics.ini slightly modified to show Marvelous, Fast and Slow in all game modes and results screens. Marvelous shine has been removed.
- Correction of some song offsets. This aspect can always be improved (Arrangement suggestions are welcome!!!)
- Optimization in the generation of song titles in SongWheel for songs without a card.png file, to approximate (a little) to the original typography automatically.
- Small modification when obtaining a new record (obviously using a profile). Now, the message "Wow, it's a new record" only appears when you get a new best record (Personal Score #1).
- Implementation of an online score storage system. This will be in constant development as bugs arise.
- The online system is only available (for now) in the single normal play mode using Player 1, that is, no nonstops or onis.
- Incorporation of the "Actualization.exe" file in the Program folder. This file will allow the user to update the "game data" as the project announces some arrangement or other content (for example, a classic song from previous mixes that you want to add).
- Incorporation of "Versus Avatar" mode, which will completely replace the traditional "Versus" mode. By selecting "Versus" in Select your Style, the second player will not be controlled by keyboard or platform, as the game will load a profile available on the Stepmania Online website and will play similar to its best record obtained in the selected song. Can you defeat them all? We are working on this mode to make it more entertaining.
